Team Lead – Trading Booking & Processing Platform

We’re looking for a hands-on Team Lead to drive the development and performance of a trading booking and processing platform, built using Python and Java.

This is a highly technical role for an experienced software engineer with a strong understanding of low-latency, high-throughput systems, concurrency and performance optimisation. You’ll be a key individual contributor, leading by example through technical delivery, architecture and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trading technology, with experience building and optimising production-grade systems where performance, reliability and scalability are critical.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the technical development and evolution of a core trading booking and processing platform.
• Design, build and optimise low-latency, high-performance systems capable of handling demanding trading workloads.
• Work across Python and Java, with a focus on developing and strengthening the Python codebase.
• Tackle complex engineering challenges around concurrency, multithreading, memory management, throughput and latency optimisation.
• Build and maintain FIX connectivity, supporting integrations from trading systems through to external clients.
• Drive technical standards, architectural decisions and engineering best practices.
• Remain hands-on in the code while providing technical direction and mentoring to the wider team.

What we’re looking for

• Strong software engineering experience in Python and/or Java, with excellent core computer science fundamentals.
• A proven understanding of low-latency, high-performance systems, including threading, concurrency and performance tuning.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex performance bottlenecks in production environments.
• Background in trading platforms, particularly trade booking, processing or trade lifecycle systems.
• Experience implementing and supporting FIX connectivity, ideally from the trading platform through to client-facing integrations.
• The ability to combine technical leadership with hands-on engineering and delivery.

Desirable experience

• Experience in systematic trading or quantitative trading environments.
• Exposure to commodity markets and derivatives
• A strong understanding of trading workflows, trade capture, booking and downstream processing.
